BLOG: Defined

You may say that it's untimely for me to define blog these days but hey! You may as well reconsider it.

Blog. It's funny how one starts a blog without even giving notice to the definition itself. That would be like sitting on a park bench early in the morning without even taking the first step out of your bedroom. Sounds impossible? Yes, sort of. Then how come you keep on posting articles to your blog without even understanding the word "blog". I don't want to sound like a know-it-all here. I just want to make sense. I want everyone to start thinking and defining. I know some will, eventually.

WHAT IS A BLOG?

Everyone has their own definition of the word and I wouldn't compete with that. Let me share some interesting definitions as I searched over the world wide web.

‘A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.’ source

‘From “Web log.” A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.”‘ source

‘A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.’ source

‘A blog (also called a weblog or web log) is a website consisting of entries (also called posts) appearing in reverse chronological order with the most recent entry appearing first (similar in format to a daily journal). Blogs typically include features such as comments and links to increase user interactivity. Blogs are created using specific publishing software.’ source

See? There are tons of  definition. You can easily land with your own definition without even having your own blog. But think of this: you can never be a good player once you don't know what sport you'll be playing with.

MY DEFINITION

Enough with the technical definitions. Let's define "blog" as a simple person like me understands it.

A blog is a simplified form of  website. It is a kind of website where you can post articles directly without having your head on your knees memorizing html and other complex codes. You can update a blog as you wish without getting through a lot of process that would require more time and effort. Posting articles daily is one of the ways on how you improve a blog. It is where you can type down interesting things that you know that may help other bloggers in a long run.

Stop posting articles that would make you look like a genius. Start a website that would help you look like an ambassador of goodwill. :)
You may disagree with my definition but who cares? Nice people will surely agree anyways.

So how do you define the term "blog" this time?
