How to Create a Successful Facebook Fan Page

Businesses must grab the opportunity to use social media such as facebook, twitter, dig and more in promoting and reaching their target customers for free. (Imagine reaching million users for free). But before you can attain these target customers you need to use social media in judicious way. Promoting a fan page, placing quality post in your wall, tweet regularly; maximize your connections (by adding friends or followers in twitter) are some of effective ways on how to do it. Applying it can boost traffic to your page and make your site well know.

What is Facebook Fan Page?

This refers to a page which intended to promote local businesses or places, companies, organizations and institutions. It also serves as an advertising page for an artist, band, public figure, entertainment, brand, product or a community.

Creating a Facebook Fan Page enough?

In most cases, creating Facebook Fan Page alone can't attract customers if no proper optimization of page

1. Use Other Social Networking Platform to Leverage Traffic.

In order to leverage its traffic, the use other networking platform like twitter, stumbleupon, myspace, reddit etc. is judicious to do it. (i.e you can tweet your facebook fan page, create a link in myspace that goes to your page, reddit it etc...). By creating a link which pointing to your page will boost the traffic of your page which implies efficiency to reach out customers.

2. Creating Interactive Contests and Freebies to your Page.

Most of facebook users are finding leisure and entertainment so it is best way to follow those trend where you’re giving freebies in your fans. This is common to those fan page which cater products and brand. This will acquire fans loyalty as well as luring other users to be part of your niche.

Most common features for product fan pages are coupon. Maybe a 10% coupon, 20%, 30% and so on. They usually collect customers information before giving coupon, this is usually done by a subscription based which customers need to subcribe before getting it.

3. Right Users for Right Page.
Proper demographic sometimes matter in handling fan page users. You might experienced that even no matter what you do to promote your page, you still trying. This could be an effect of demographic issue (partly) where your fan page is targeting wrong group of users. The best way to do to enhance your fan page with demographic issue is to evaluate your fan page, if it suited to youth, female, male or generals facebook users.

4. Creating Useful Resources for your Fans.

The most important thing to remember when dealing with fans/ users is to give them importance. Meaning you need to make your fans to feel valuable. One way to attain it is by way of giving them a resources. These resources might be a usefull information, rewards, support or other things that can give users pleasure and stay loyal in your page.

Facebook Email Service for Real

Do you have a email?I'm sure you have one. Every webmail services have different design, user experience and size storage. Most common webmail service that available in the internet are gmail by Google, ymail by Yahoo, hotmail by Microsoft and facebook mail by facebook. Yes its true! Facebook announced the launch of their email service that anyone on Facebook can get an @facebook.com email address.

Can you imagine over 600 million user to use this service even in first launch. That was really good marketing strategies.Joel Seligstein of Facebook stated in their company release: "Today I'm excited to announce the next evolution of Messages. You decide how you want to talk to your friends: via SMS, chat, email or Messages. They will receive your message through whatever medium or device is convenient for them, and you can both have a conversation in real time. You shouldn't have to remember who prefers IM over email or worry about which technology to use. Simply choose their name and type a message.

We are also providing an @facebook.com email address to every person on Facebook who wants one. Now people can share with friends over email, whether they're on Facebook or not. To be clear, Messages is not email. There are no subject lines, no cc, no bcc, and you can send a message by hitting the Enter key. We modeled it more closely to chat and reduced the number of things you need to do to send a message. We wanted to make this more like a conversation," .

What do you think the impact of this in Gmail throne as the most popular email service in the net?. For me, there will be a big impact but it can never totally destroyed the spot of gmail service with the following perspective. First, most of google Service such as Google Analytics, Adwords etc.. must need gmail address to have an account. So I'm pretty much sure that these existing email address that webmaster had are still their primary email. Another thing is having a lot of email to maintain is a bit confusing, (It might not be enough reason but for me its really matter.).

On the other hand I will create a facebook email if it really needed. Like for instance when you creating a facebook aps and need it then this could help. What I'm thinking that facebook will change the email address login that you already register in their with their facebook email domain in the future. Good luck facebook and have a nice competition.

Please post your comment on this folks.

Facebook User Posts to be republished for Advertisement

After the rumors that Facebook is going offline starting March 15, 2011, Facebook has another issue a thorny issue.
Another feature may surprise Facebook users. Facebook users who are fond of checking in to a store and clicking the "like" button for a brand may soon find these actions retransmitted on their friend's pages as a "Sponsored Story" paid for advertisers.- NEW YORK (AP)

If this is likely to be possible, currently there is no way for users to decline this feature.
The new, promoted posts would keep the same privacy setting that the original posting had. So if you limit your check-ins to a specific group of friends, only these same friends would see the "Sponsored Story" version later.
According to Facebook this feature lets advertisers promote word-of-mouth recommendations that people already made on the site. They play up things people do on the site that might get lost in the mass of links, photos, status updates and other content users share on the world's largest social network.
The new, promoted posts would keep the same privacy setting that the original posting had. So if you limit your check-ins to a specific group of friends, only these same friends would see the "Sponsored Story" version later.
The promoted content will appear on the right side of users' home pages, not in their main news feed. That's where regular ads, friend requests and other content are located.
Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center regarded it to be "subtle and misleading" and a thing user should really object. He said that  in this case the company is making money off a person's name or likeness without their consent. Involving users in advertisements with out their consent is an awful issue for the social site.
Another top social site, Twitter already offers advertisers something similar, they call it "promoted tweets". These are Twitter posts paid for by advertisers to show up in search results and top of popular topic lists on the site. But far more different, while Twitter's ads are written by the companies that pay for them, Facebook's sponsored stories are created by users.
Both features of these sites are ways of making advertisement easier. Than making up a virtual billboard of advertisements, this would be of less effort.
